Sproxil CEO Joins World Leaders at World Economic Forum Annual Meeting

Cambridge, Mass. (January 14, 2018) – Dr. Ashifi Gogo, founder and CEO of Sproxil, a leading provider of mobile-based consumer engagement solutions, will join prominent government and business leaders at the 48th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.

Over 60 heads of state and government, as well as 2,500 leaders from business and society, will convene at the Annual Meeting from January 23-26 under the theme Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World. In a historic move, seven women, ranging from IBM CEO Ginni Rometty to renowned social entrepreneur Chetna Sinha will co-chair this year’s annual meeting.

Dr. Gogo will join world leaders discussing best strategies for addressing essential agenda items:

  • Driving Sustained Economic Progress
  • Navigating a Multipolar and Multi-conceptual World
  • Overcoming Divisions in Society
  • Shaping the Agile Governance of Technology

Dr. Gogo was named a 2014 Social Entrepreneur of the Year by the Schwab Foundation, a member of the World Economic Forum community. Since then, he has regularly contributed to the Forum community, presenting at the 2015 Annual meeting on the role of businesses in the social agenda (see video) and serving on its Global Agenda Council on Social Innovation and the Meta-Council on the Illicit Economy. Dr. Gogo was also an instrumental team member in creating the Meta-Council’s capstone briefing paper on the state of the illicit economy.

“Over the past few years, I have become truly impressed with the depth and breadth of expertise readily available at World Economic Forum events. The degree of openness and intellectual rigor world leaders provide sets a great stage for transformative conversations,” Dr. Gogo said.

Sproxil launched Africa's first regulator-backed mobile drug verification system for patients in Nigeria. Since joining the World Economic Forum community, Sproxil has expanded to new industries such as beverages, automotive parts, electronics and medical devices, and now counts India as its largest market. Sproxil has also provided over 65 million verifications to consumers in Asia and Africa. Through its engagement at the Forum, Sproxil continues to offer its thought leadership on various global topics, including why small data makes a big difference in Africa, how to fight the scourge of fake medicines, if drugs should be 3D printed from the internet and whether businesses should lead the social agenda.

“I look forward to continuing multiple productive conversations within the Forum community at the Annual Meeting,” concluded Dr. Gogo.
